Pancho Vladigerov is one of the most influential Bulgarian composers of all time. He was one of the first to successfully combine idioms of Bulgarian folk and classical music. Part of the so-called Second Generation Bulgarian Composers, he was among the founding members of the Bulgarian Contemporary Music Society (1933), which later became the Union of Bulgarian Composers.
The State Cultural Institute “Pancho Vladigerov House-Museum” is housed in the family home of the composer, donated by his wife, Elka Vladigerova, and his grandson, Pancho Vladigerov Jr., with the express wish that it be established as a museum.
